How to Export Reports and Dashboard Data in monday.com
Overview
Whether you’re sharing progress with stakeholders, archiving project data, or conducting external analysis, monday.com allows you to export reports and dashboard data easily. This article explains how to export boards, widgets, and dashboard visuals into formats like Excel, PDF, and images.
📋 Exporting Board Data (Project Tables)
You can export the raw data from a board (e.g., project, CRM, budget) directly into Excel or CSV.
➤ Steps to Export a Board:
- Open the board you want to export
- Click the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top right
- Select “Export board to Excel”
This export includes:
- All columns (text, numbers, status, dates, etc.)
- Groups as separate rows
- Subitems (in a nested format)
📎 Note: Files are exported in .xlsx
format by default.
📈 Exporting Dashboard Widgets
Widgets themselves can’t be exported directly as interactive files, but you can capture their data in several ways:
🖼 Option 1: Take a Snapshot (Image Export)
- Go to your dashboard
- Use your browser’s “Print” or “Save as PDF” function
OR - Use a screenshot tool to capture widgets visually
Ideal for presenting snapshots in reports or slide decks.
📤 Option 2: Export Table Widget Data
The Table Widget supports direct Excel export:
- Click the menu (⋮) on the widget
- Select “Export to Excel”
- File downloads with all displayed columns and rows
✅ Filters applied to the table will reflect in the export.
📊 Option 3: Copy Chart Data to Use Elsewhere
Although you can’t directly export chart visuals:
- Hover over the chart to view data
- Use connected Excel or Google Sheets integrations to replicate metrics
- Use monday Apps / 3rd-party tools (like Integromat, Make, or Zapier) to push widget data to external reporting tools
📅 Exporting Calendar, Timeline, or Gantt Views
You can print or export calendar-based views by:
- Switching to the desired view (e.g., Timeline View, Gantt View, or Calendar View)
- Using your browser’s “Print” or “Save as PDF” function to capture the screen
- Optionally taking a screenshot or using tools like Loom or Snagit for video reporting
🔄 For syncing, use calendar integrations (e.g., Google Calendar, Outlook) to export scheduling data continuously.
🔗 Export via Integrations
Use these built-in tools to export or connect data automatically:
Tool | Export Options |
---|---|
Excel Integration | Push board data to Excel on a schedule |
Google Sheets Integration | Sync board data to Google Sheets |
Zapier / Make | Create custom workflows for data export |
Power BI / Tableau | Advanced dashboard syncing for reporting |
🧾 Exporting Time Tracking Reports
If you’re using the Time Tracking column, export the data by:
- Clicking the column dropdown menu (⋮)
- Selecting “Export tracking data to Excel”
- The report includes total tracked time, start/end times, and user information
✅ Best Practices
Tip | Why It Helps |
---|---|
Use filters before exporting | Export only relevant data |
Label your dashboards and widgets clearly | Easier to interpret exported visuals |
Create a summary group or board | Store monthly reports in a shareable format |
Use dashboards with view-only sharing | Share live dashboards without manual exports |
